Bluffing

In Texas Hold'em one of the most important things you can learn to do is bluff. You want to make all of the other players at the table think that you have the best hand possible. You should constantly be applying pressure to the other players to make them fold. You can do this by re-raising when you think that you are beaten badly by another player or when you think that the other player is bluffing.

You really have to learn to get a feel for playing poker so that you can know when someone is bluffing and when they really have a good hand. When you are good at reading people that is calling finding their 'tells'. Once you figure out what all of your opponents tells are then it makes it much easier to figure out if they really have a good hand or if they are bluffing. You have to remember to keep yourself unpredictable, if you become to predictable then people can read what you do when you are bluffing and then they would know to keep raising. You also want to make sure that you don't bluff every time, if you do this then everybody at the table will know that you are bluffing and you will just keep losing all of your money.

This is a kind of sneak attack game, you are trying to scare your fellow players into thinking that you have the best hand out on the table. One thing that you should stay away from if you want to take a good pot is if you are bluffing it is not wise to raise an enormous amount on the first or second betting round. This will either tip off the other players that you are bluffing or it will make them automatically fold and then you wouldn't have won anything at all. The other side to bluffing is that you have to watch out for your opponents, they are going to try to bluff you as well. They, just like you may not try to bluff every hand but you have to learn to be able to tell when someone actually has a good hand and when someone is just trying to scare you out of the game so that they don't lose any money.

To learn how to detect another player bluffing you have to pay close attention to the way that they hold themselves. You want to take mental notes of everything that they do when they have a certain hand. This will be able to tell you in the future what to expect when a certain situation comes up. Once you have mastered the art of bluffing and knowing how to notice someone else bluffing you will be a far better player and you should come away with more money each time, because you can wisely make decisions about when you should bet and when you should fold.
