Cheating

This is not on how to cheat, this is how to spot cheating online. The old saying goes don't trust any strangers, well actually online is the best way to avoid being cheated. Some people might ask how, well there is a limit on the number of sneaky people that could potentially be cheating. There is no dealer so there is no way that one of the players could be working with the dealer or be paying him or her off to help them win. There is no chance of illegal card handling online so the lessen the chances right off. There are some people out there that are worried about hackers getting in and messing with things. In reality it has been many, many years since the last major instance of hacking has affected anyone betting money in an online Texas Holdem game. Since then there have been several breakthroughs like the SSLv3 and the TLSv1 encryption algorithm and lots of multi-layered random number sequencers.

These very technical advances are not the only security that is in place at the online casinos and poker rooms, you also find the same security measures that you would find in any land-based casinos. However with all of these measures there are still forms of online casino cheating called player collusion. Player collusion is when two or more players reveal to each other what cards they hold. This is more difficult to pull off in a live game, but playing online gives players the chance to have another player on the phone with them, or sitting in the same room with them at another computer. The good news is that most of the people who do this don't really know how to use it to their advantage. The two players have to coordinate well together which takes lots of time and practice.

Online casinos not only look for the telltale signs of collusion, but they also check to see if two players are always playing at the same table together. They would have to use tactics called hit and run when they are using this type of cheating. Which means that they hit a high limit poker room, then flee to another one with their winnings and don't look back. If you think someone is using this tactic to cheat here are some things to look out for. If a team of players try to steamroll other players out of the game by re-raising each other to make non colluding players call multiple bets at once. Players who never play fast pre-flop, be aware of people's reaction times. Look for a group of players who hike up bets by re-raising with someone in between them. Doing this gets the maximum amount of bets out of a third party to raise the pots. Even though it is very uncommon and rare for someone to even attempt to try and cheat the online. Still don't ever accuse someone of cheating, what you should do is contact the computer room admin or just get up and leave that table. Most casinos have many poker rooms going at once so you have many choices.
